Good Guys 2013 - the Prequel

Good Guys comes to town every year on the 4th of July weekend so it's become a tradition of sorts to go and check things out.  This year though, we will be missing the actual event due to work schedules and such so we took a trip over there today to check out some cars while the owners were getting their Hot Rods registered.  The sampling of cars was smaller, obviously, but here are some sights from our visit.

Bring On the Engines!

At last, the Hot Rods have arrived. Enjoy J! I've never had a bad time at Good Guys. How could you though with so much to look at? There were some new cars, some old familiars, some oddities... but overall it was a pretty good time. Little man took a sky ride with Grandpa H and made sure that Grandpa stayed safe while little miss and Grandmama looked on. He was very pleased with himself! After that, we looked at more cars... and more cars... and then had some ice cream.Mmmm.

The Iowa State Fairgrounds houses a rather nifty little fountain and both minions love it. Normally I bring a spare outfit for after they drench themselves but this year I forgot. Good thing the fountain was turned off, huh? You can't see it, but little miss is actually perched on one of the rocks surrounding the fountain. And of course, more cars! GooD I thought I would deviate a bit from the normal knitting/crochet/minion content that my posts usually contain. Instead, I thought I would provide pictures of this year's Good-Guys show that took place over the 4th of July at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. I love going to these shows! Though, with any Hot Rod/Custom show there are the good, the great, and the somewhat questionable. I'll let you be the judge. Many photos were taken, these are just a few. While walking around and viewing the incredible number of Hot Rods surrounding a person at any given time, it is easy to see just about any color one could dream up. Of the cars I viewed, I would have to say that red and yellow were the most common this year.

A friend of my FIL let little man get the feel for the driver's seat in his Hot Rod. Another enthusiast in the making?







His eye is still a little swollen and red, but it looks pretty darn good don't you think?
