Christmas is almost upon us and we couldn't be happier to share it with a few new friends, Melba and Roderick. Our friend, Medwin, mentioned to us that a couple of his friends had nowhere to go for the Holidays so they will be staying with us for the foreseeable future.
Melba is quite a character. Originally from New Orleans, she moved to Austria as a child and has traveled all through Europe where she developed a deep love of flamenco dancing. She is to perform for us tonight, I can't wait! When she is not practicing her Flamenco, she can often be found lurking around. You see, Melba's hero is Harriet the Spy... If you want to know what's going on around the neighborhood, Melba is your gal.
I'm not sure how Melba and Roderick met; whenever the subject is brought up they break into a fit of giggles. One can only assume that the meeting was epic.
Where Melba can be the quiet lurker, Roderick is energetic, flamboyant, and loud.
Believe it or not, Roderick missed the cut for the 2014 Winter Olympics by .002 sec. in the Luge. He says the rush is what keeps him going. Though disappointed about not competing in the Luge, he has his tickets ready and will cheer on his friends who are members of the Curling Team. After that, he confided in me that some of his goals for 2014 include going on his first Hot Air Balloon Ride, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, and actually entering into a Starbucks for a cup of tea.
Medwin and Roderick go way back. They first met on the squash court back in whenever it was that they met. Fierce competitors and loyal friends, they are the first to shove the other into a pile of snow but are also the first to pull them up from it. It's a weird friendship. Medwin was overjoyed that Roderick and Melba said they could join us for the Holidays. I just hope they keep the mischief down to a minimum...
Little Hazel is smitten by Melba. She has proposed a trade where she will show Melba her Hide and Seek secrets and in turn, Melba will teach her a few dance moves. Melba accepted - It's all rather exciting!
It's hard to resist making a snow angel when the snow is so pristine...
