I mentioned in previous posts that I was planning on using one of my skeins of Fearless Fibers Superwash Sport in the Emerald Colorway for a St. Patrick's Day project for myself. I finished these Leprechaun Footies before St. Patrick's Day and didn't post the pictures of them on March 17th like I had planned because I was a tad under the weather. Trust me, these socks are GREEN. I cannot for the life of me take a picture that captures their green-y-goodness accurately. In case you are keeping tabs, this ups my personal handknit sock count to 3 and a half. A half you say? How is this possible? Right after I finished my Leprechauns, I CO for my Bellatrix socks in Sunshine Yarns Sock Yarn from a Harry Potter Sock Club in the He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named Colorway. Here's a view of the Stockinette portion of the sole. This sock has issues. I had almost completed this sock on the 17th when I first started to feel a little tired, like I was going to come down with something. On the 18th, I was completely into my Viral Fog and decided that it was long enough and time to start the toe. I had the foresight to try on the sock when the toe was just about complete and found that it wasn't going to work. It took 2 1/2 hours - HOURS - to get the bright idea to put in a line and rip back so I could add some rows in Stockinette before the toe, screw that up so I had to rip back down into the instep portion of the sock, figure out what row I was on, knit back up to where the toe was supposed to be and decided to throw in the towel, it was getting way too difficult. Ridiculous! After I got a little sleep that night I finished up the toe in the morning of the following day and snapped a few photos. I didn't even CO for the 2nd sock until last evening when I completed the ribbing portion. Whatever virus I had the privledge of meeting up with knocked me on my rump. I didn't even pick up the needles for a few days. Zero stitches completed. I did, however, knit up a few mini socks here and there the second day into my whatever-it-was.I thought it would be fun to make little mini socks to use up leftover sock yarn and to also display a little model of some of my completed pairs of socks. Here are a few.Come this year's Holiday Season I will have a little mini tree decorated exclusively with little handknit treats :)
That pretty much sums up my last week. The week before that was pretty mundane. The minions have been playing with their Elefun game quite a bit and have come up with some alternate uses for the nets. We also painted a bit.Yesterday the mailman delivered 2 rather large packages to our front door. Upon opening them, we discovered that my SIL K had sent some new wheels for the minions. The hubby got to work assembling the scooter/Big Wheel and they were off... for all of 10 minutes in the driveway because it was getting rather chilly.
For as tall as little man is for his age, his legs are just shy of reaching the pedals when his leg would be fully stretched so he figured out that he could simply lift his feet up and zoom down the driveway.
Little miss never misses an opportunity to mow the yard, she just couldn't decide which she wanted to pull around and ended up pulling both for a short while.
Little man is quite the nature scavenger and enjoys discovering new "finds".
I'm glad they enjoyed themselves because they are both currently dealing with the same viral entity that I was dealing with last week. At least I am feeling well enough to take care of their sniffly noses now :)
A little side note: I was thinking the other day that it would be fun to have a penpal either from the US or from another country and I happened to find a Penpal group on Ravelry and now have a penpal who lives in Spain. Good times. I then thought to myself that it could be fun to have a few different penpals from various parts of the world and wrote a little diddy about myself on the group's site... No takers. Evidently dull Iowans are not in demand these days :) At least I have one fun new penpal!
Anyway, I wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy St. Patrick's Day and a Happy Easter to those of you celebrating! :)
