Towards Summer's End

Where has the time gone? Somehow August is half over already. I have been working steadily on my Holiday projects and finding time somehow to do a bit of dyeing and completing a few side projects such as this felted bowl for my MIL.
I finished the birthday swap socks which were received today but more on the swap next post. I also finished 2 socks/patterns for Squibstitcher's Autumn sock kits which will be made available sometime mid-September so I'll have finished sock pictures to post then. And... I cleared out a WiP by finally finishing my One Row (not handspun) Scarf for Grandma D.
I think I've mentioned it before, but I used the Yarn Harlot's pattern and Fearless Fibers wool/alpaca in the Bountiful colorway. I love reversible scarves!
Now for the BIG fiber-y news. Thanks in part to my parents and in-laws, I am now the proud owner of a spinning wheel!!!!!!!
Isn't she beautiful? According to the couple I purchased her from, she is over 100 yrs old and Danish. I don't know how accurate that information is though; I have been doing a bit of research here and there but I think it looks similar to a few other models but I am by far no expert on the matter so I'll keep trying to learn more.

These even came included :)
Now for my next wheel..... :)

The minions have been having a great summer. I took them to the Iowa State Fair this year with my Mother, SIL, and nephew. I still have to upload some pictures that were taken that day so I'll show you more of them later. This one was taken with my camera. We were pushing naptime at this point.

This past weekend was my FIL's birthday which meant he had swing duty.

During an Iowa Summer, nothing hits the spot quite like a nice refreshing dip in the pool, wouldn't you agree?
There still some Summer to enjoy yet but there is definitely a sense that Autumn is coming. I can't wait! Knitting with wool in this heat and humidity just isn't always the joyful experience that it should be;)

Your minions are cute, but you probably knew that.
