Catching Up - Winter

Life has been busy here for the Dreams in Fiber household and there's no way I will be able to cram things into one post so I'm going to try to do a few smaller ones...

Now that Spring is finally here, I should probably talk about Winter.  Winter was long, cold, windy, cold, sickly, cold, and finally over.  It was too cold to do much of anything outdoors for any substantial amount of time so we went outside when we could and snuggled when we couldn't.  Snuggling was increased due to the influenza, multiple episodes of GI upset, Strep, Pink Eye, random prolonged fevers, more GI upset...  It was fun; hopefully all that is behind us now.

In February, my FIL decided to become part cyborg and had one of his hips replaced.  As per my usual, any and all of my advice was ignored until too late, but it's done and he's doing very well.  His gait is no longer reminiscent of John Wayne which means it's not as easy to recognize him ;)  During his immediate recovery, my SIL flew in to help out and we fit in a few smaller sledding sessions.

Poor K, she was welcomed back to Iowa by a pant full of snow...

At one point, I escaped for a few minutes of alone time.  As you can see, there wasn't a whole lot of color to be found.

It is rather nice to be alone outdoors in Winter though - the peace and quiet, the stillness that can only be experienced then, the few bursts of color and texture abound.  It's a nice reminder in these crazy days of ours to make sure we take time to just stop and be still even if it's only for a moment or two.

Next up, the thaw...

Wow, that is a highly unflattering "I've got snow in my pants" face! I'll have to work on that for next time. Love other one though :)
