Little man and I went for a walk to take pictures of some hanknits and to see what new areas we could find. It was during our trek into the fields that we met Wilfred.
Wilfred is a quiet fellow - I'm not sure he knew what to make of the weather. This is his first actual cold Winter you see. He told us that he originally hails from Germany but his family moved to Central America right after he was born. He got interested in all the bugs and spiders around where he lived and thought he would travel further North to check out the insect/arachnid scene up here - that was this past Summer. He is traveling over the Winter months and will buckle down in the Southwest this Spring.
Little man showed him how to climb trees more effectively and Wilfred showed him a new little stream/ravine area he had stumbled across.
The two of them chatted it up about the types of insects little man catches around here and little man told him about our tarantulas. Wilfred has been invited to stay with us so he can study them up close.
He didn't know what to make of the frozen stream.
His English is really spot on and he has been teaching the minions different Spanish phrases during his stay. We told him we might have to make him a hat or something if he is going to make a habit of hanging out for our Winters!
